Meeting a person from some distant land and eating at his or her home. Discussing politics or religion in an unfamiliar language. Finding an excellent and hitherto unknown vintage of a great huge red wine. Seeing a French film for the first time and meeting the players. Driving very fast (120 mph +) and getting away with it. Landing in an unexplored country. Being cut off from the whirlwind for a week or two and reconnecting. Leaving any large city and finding the beach.
