My work is fairly demanding both intellectually and time wise (I teach and do research) which means that sometimes I don't feel I have the time or energy to meet new people - hence my decision to give this a go!

I enjoy people and have a number of close friends. I like public speaking which my closest friend says is what makes me very unusual. I love reading and walking - for the first time this year I signed up to walk the half marathon. Walking and hiking (and possibly cycling and body surfing) is as sporty as it gets though.

I love entertaining and having people stay. I have lived in France and speak French so sometimes it has felt like I am running a hostel for francophones. I have my nieces come and stay regularly too which is great fun (I don't have my own children and have never married).

I love being outside in my garden and sense God's bounty in the flowers and fruit it rewards my efforts with.

I attend an Anglican church and have a number of small roles (some of which involve public speaking!). I love the combination of the traditional (i.e. the liturgy) and the contemporary (i.e. music, thought provoking sermons) in the service I attend.

I get to travel quite a bit with work, in fact so much at the moment that I have a gold card. (Long may that continue!)

For now, I think that that is quite enough about myself!
